Why is "Elite Dangerous" one of the most important games in history?

 "Elite Dangerous" is well known to all gamers, although not all play it. The reason why "Elite Dangerous" isn't as popular as "Minecraft"or "Terraria" is that it is too difficult for "casual" players. "Elite Dangerous" is a very complex game that's taking place in space. But when "No Man's Sky" is based around "Sci-Fi" space with a lot of life and aliens, "Elite Dangerous" is very realistic. "Elite Dangerous" has all known to humanity stars and planets with all their proportions and real physics. Apart from this known to humanity star systems, Elite has more than 340 billion procedural generated star systems. How is physics working in No Man's Sky?

 On early stage of development of No Man's Sky, its chief game designer, Sean Murray, made a lot of promises. One of them was that physics in No Man's Sky universe will be the same as in real world. And Sean Murray overall told the truth. In No Man's Sky every movement isn't designed in code by developers, like in most of the games, but it's simulated by computer and then adapted to the game in form of movement. Another example is that player can see as far as curvature of planet. Day and night cycle isn't designed by developers, it's result of planet rotation like in real world. But every game is mean't to entertain people, right? Adapting all real world physics to No Man's Sky would make playing this game a real challange.  How small team of 20 programmers created universe 8 times bigger than Milky Way (400,000 light years to 52,850 light years)? When No Man's Sky was announced during their press conference at the Electronic "Entertainment Expo 2014", many gamers were skeptical, about making so complex and big universe. Developers from "Hello Games" were able to create their universe by using a lot of mathematical formulas. One of the main formula was "Superformula algorithm". That algorithm can create complex, biological shapes with a lot of curves with just a few parameters. This algorithm in No Man's Sky is responsible for variety of animals, plants, comments and stars.
