Why Russian forces are refusing to retreat from Lyman?

After Ukrainian offensive 2 weeks ago, Russian forces were forced to retreat from most of Kharkiv oblast. Now Ukrainian forces are close to gain control over Lyman in Donetsk oblast. This small town is so important to Russia because the fall of Lyman would give Ukrainian forced access to Luhansk oblast and encircling Russian forced defending the river Oskil. Russian forces defending Lyman are currently encircled by Ukraine armed forced, so we should expect to see fall of Lyman in the next few days.  What are the benefits of holding Lyman? Firstly, Ukrainian forces will have free way to Svatove and all of Luhansk oblast. Secondly, news of Russian losses on the front will highly affect recently mobilized new troops in Russia. Also Russian propaganda, which is still in shock after successful Ukrainian offensive in Kharkiv oblast, will probably panic once again, spreading fear throughout whole of Russia. Why two allies are fighting against themselves? War between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

 In recent weeks and months, a lot of conflicts around the world escalated. The first big military conflict started on 24 of February between Russian Federation and Ukraine. Recently, the "mountain Karabakh" conflict escalated again, because Azerbaijan invaded Armenia. But just a few days ago world heard about another conflict. This conflict is in some case special because the two participants of this war are two "allies", Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.  The origin of this conflict is similar to Azerbaijan-Armenian conflict. It all started when Soviet Union officially fell and the republics which were under soviet occupation declared their independence. The problem was that the new borders of this states were drawn by Russian when they conquered those regions throughout their history.
